Do you like a classic Italian after dinner sip of limoncello?
I can teach you how to make it out of any fresh fruit you have in the garden or local farmers market. Basically, you tell me what tasty, fresh, pesticide-free fruit you have access to. I will teach you how to make a delicious after dinner digestive.
To be honest I have never made limoncello. By the time I arrived here in Italy last year, our nonna had already whisked away the lemons from our tree to make it herself. But... She gave me the secret recipe. And I promptly made the recipe using our fresh mandarins and kumquats. And with a little innovation it amazed everyone.
This year I am in the process of harvesting our limes, tamarinds, passion fruit, pomegranates and prickly pears to make different types. In a few months I will harvest the lemons, oranges, and of course the mandarins and kumquats once again.
I've only tried it with the juicy citrusy fruits but now that I think about it, I probably could have tried with the apples as well when they were ripe - but those were devoted to an apple crumble.
So, you tell me what fruit you have. I will teach you the secrets of the Italian nonna...
