Brand Name Creation
1000
Naming is crucial. As a professional, when I'm tasked with naming a new product, service, website, or company, I spend 2-6 weeks on the job.
That means learning about you, your offering, your audience. What makes you different? How do we express a unique identity yet present your brand in a way that's trustworthy, credible, familiar, strong.
What do I do? Brainstorming ... and then some! Trademark research. Domain name exploration (my field of expertise). Competitor and audience evaluation. Most importantly, lots of back-and-forth consultation with my client – i.e. with you. I don't just pull back the curtain and say, "Here's your name!" No, I provide ideas and advice; but I also listen. We collaborate.
I'm happy to answer shorter questions about names and domains for less Simbi. Please see my other service packages. The reality, however, is that full-service naming is a very time-consuming job. We run into a lot of dead ends, but I stay with the project for weeks until we find a perfect solution.
If my rate in Simbi is unaffordable, then we can discuss using Simbi as a discount off my normal rate in actual money. I try to be flexible. And I love having more good brand names to point to.
P.S. Yes, I know you can get your mother-in-law to come up with a brand name. Or roll the dice with a robot. Good names can actually come from anywhere. The reason for hiring an expert, though, is simply this: You don't know what you don't know. Choosing a brand name / domain name entails real benefits, costs, and risks. Look around! You'll see a lot of really bad names out there. Just remind yourself that 100% of the people who picked those names THOUGHT they were doing a good job.
That's why it's a good idea to hire a professional. As someone who has spent every day for 5+ years analyzing, writing about, and consulting on brand names / domains, I've learned a few things. Choosing a name isn't an arbitrary decision like picking a random user id or password. Remember, it's everybody's first impression of your business. You can change your website, but you'll be stuck with your brand name every day for years to come.
Training & Qualifications
I've worked full time as an independent domain name and branding consultant since 2011. That means managing 10,000 domains myself, writing hundreds of articles about the topic, being interviewed by Entrepreneur magazine, and helping numerous clients select the right name / domain.
